Lifestyle Support

Activity and event programs that support your wellbeing

Activity and event programs that support your wellbeing.
Above all else, Metro Community Hub exists to support the lifestyles of our members. The classes, events, activities and trips we offer have all been developed to help you make friends, stay active and keep connected with the communities you’re a part of.
There’s more information below on the activities we’re currently offering, ranging from wellness classes like gentle fitness to social outings, lunches and bus outings farther afield. Our goal is to keep you healthy and provide events that stimulate your brain, improve your independence and give you a chance to spend time with friends doing things you’ll enjoy.
To attend any activities at Metro you’ll need to become a member.

Our Activities

Get more from life with our low cost activities

Social

Be involved and make friends at our popular social activities. The calendar is always changing, and we welcome feedback from members about places they’d like to visit or activities they want to try, so there’s always something new going on.

Regular activities include bus trips to some of South East Queensland’s best spots, with morning tea and lunch included! We’ll stop for a picnic or BBQ lunch, or sometimes we visit restaurants, cafés and clubs. For those wanting to stay local, we also host group days in the MCH building for morning tea and lunch, and we run a regular lunch club that visits nearby restaurants and cafes.

Dancing

Stay active and have fun doing it with dancing classes at MCH. Come Dance With Me is a program specifically for people in the early stages of dementia who are still living independently.

The instructors are qualified for working with older people and can cater to any ability and fitness levels. They’ll work with you on your range of motion to help improve your wellbeing, independence and quality of life. Come Dance With Me classes include morning tea, and you’re welcome to bring along a carer or loved one.

A short assessment will need to be performed before you can join a class.

We would love suggestions on styles of dance, please get in touch!

Wellness

The wellness activities we offer are some of our most popular events. Join a class and our qualified instructors will help you work on your health and wellbeing so you can get more out of life.

We have activities suitable for people of all ability levels, including aqua aerobics, walking club, tai chi, gentle yoga, Fitter for Life gymnastics and more. The instructors leading your class can work within your ability level and modify any movements to support your limitations. It’s recommended you wear comfortable clothing that’s easy to move around in.

These classses are subject to availability.

Learning

Metro Community Hub also provides learning programs to help you pick up new skills that will improve your life.

Our Be Connected program is supported by the Australian Government, helping older people develop their digital and computer skills. If you’d like to learn how to keep up with your friends and family through Facebook or email, or if you’d like to learn more about using the internet to do research and reading, then the Be Connected program is for you.

Classes are available as group sessions or one-on-one help can be arranged to teach you exactly what you want to know.
