Happy 60th Birthday to MCH

In Novemeber this year, MCH turns 60 years. Did you know that we were the first centre of its type in Brisbane and was known as the Metropolitan Senior Citizens Centre. Until August 2014 we were based on the corner of Anne and Chruch Streets. In September we opened up in our present location in Qualtrough Street, Woolloongabba. Our role changed from service providers to facility managers and service providers and our name no longer reflected the work that we did. Our new neame, Metro Community Hub was more reflective of our new role.

Did you know though that our beginnings go back to the beginnings of the 1900's with the Brisbane Institute of Social Services. Their aim was to assist mothers and children improve their lives and ran several facilities around Brunswick Street in Fortitude Valley. this model was the precursor for kindergardens.

Watch this space for more news about the celebration as they come to hand. Do you know of anyone who used to attend our programs, volunteer or even work for us? If so, we would appreciate having their contact details to invite along to our special party. Contact us on 3391 8122 if you have any information for us.
